You can now pop into my cute little studio in the city centre with your little ones for a photoshoot that will capture their blossoming personalities, unique little ways and lovable expressions!

The sessions last about an hour and your images will be online in a couple of days. I have a range of fabulous products that will display the photos of your loved ones in the best possible way.

What happened to 2011?

It's at this time of year when we tend to look back and reflect on the previous 12 months...and WOW it has been an amazing!!!

Here are some of the highlights...

1. The year started with the wedding of Claire and Aiden at Redworth Hall and as I type they are celebrating the arrival of their first baby! The pitter patter of tiny feet has most definitely been a theme throughout the year as many of my 2010 and 2011 couples become parents and it gives me such a warm and happy feeling. I know many of you are trying to take this step too so I want to wish you all lots of luck!

2. Shooting weddings in new venues. This year I've been to some very cool, beautiful and grand places! I love visiting venues for the first time to see what they offer and this year my 'firsts' include diverse places like The Sage, As You Like It, Wynyard Hall and Alnwick Gardens.

3. Making new friends. Through the power that is Facebook I've been able to keep in touch with many brides (and grooms!) and suppliers. I love finding out about their holiday, new houses, new jobs, babies and just seeing mad photos from nights out! Long may this continue!

4. The Love My Dress Soiree. In August The Baltic was transformed into a who's who of the UK wedding industry through the almighty power behind Love My Dress wedding blog - Annabel Beeforth. It was one seriously stylish, seriously fun party and I had a ball!

5. The Brides Up North Tweet up and shoot. Julia from Brides up North made the trip from Leeds to be styled, primped and preened in my studio and then we unleashed her on Newcastle! She look amazing and really put her all into creating some fabulous images! A week later I attended one of the Brides up North Tweet Ups at The Black Horse. It was lovely to meet fellow NE suppliers.... especially Vicky Trainor from The Vintage Drawer.

6. Working for For Your Eyes Only (FYEO). This opportunity came my way though a friend, Ali Groves who had bought the Newcastle franchise. Once the studio was kitted out we began creating some amazing sensual portraits of women. I absolutely loved it. Women would arrive at the studio incredibly nervous but leave with a new found confidence that in turn gave me such a buzz! The studio closed in September but as one door closes another opens....

7. New office space for www.karenmcgowran.co.uk! From the embers of the FYEO studio came the opportunity to have my own city centre meeting space and I grabbed it with both hands. I now have a beautiful space to meet clients and no longer am I like a double glazing salesman trailing all my albums etc around! I am also able to show clients a wider range of products. As we move into 2012, we are also creating a shooting space....we are very excited about this so watch out for more info!

8. The Tuscany Workshop. In October I was super excited to travel to Tuscany with Damien Lovegrove and Chris Hanley to be part of a bridal and feminine beauty workshop. Along with 12 other delegates, we took over the 16th century Villa Sermoli for 3 days and under Damien and Chris' expert guidance I created some amazing images. I also made lifelong friends and the memories of the alcohol fuelled nights around the kitchen table will stay with me for a long time! I also got to see Lucca, Pisa and Florence during this trip and spent some time with my wonderful friend, and talented photographer, Julie Tinton.

9. Being published! This year we were over the moon to be featured in the national wedding magazines 'You and Your Wedding' and 'Wedding Ideas'. We also has a real life wedding in Belle Bridal which is a high quality NE based wedding magazine. We also featured on a few wedding blogs...Love my Dress, Brides up North and Whimsical Wonderland Weddings. Lots of fantastic exposure and testiment to the beautiful weddings created by my Brides and Grooms.

10. Finally....BEING AWARD WINNERS!! In November we found out that we had been shortlisted for the prestigious Wedding Industry Awards. A short time later..while shooting a Diamond Wedding Anniversary Party, Neil was obviously skiving and checking Facebook and noticed my wall was full of congratulations!! It was confirmed that we had won the North East wedding photographer category! You could have knocked me down with a feather as we had been up against some amazing photographers! I was seriously proud of Neil and I and how far we'd come. This award means a lot as only your wedding clients can vote so it's based on real feedback. Neil and I are travelling to London for the National Finals in January....how exciting!!!

Good times.Creative Times

This year I have been very fortunate to have met some fantastic new people that I now call friends. In October I attended Damien Lovegrove's workshop in Tuscany where, alongside Chris Hanley they showed us how to make the most of natural light and create stunning images. It was a highlight of my photography journey so far and the friends I made on that workshop will be lifelong friends, I am sure of it. We all pined for each other when we returned home and it wasn't long before a little reunion was planned..the location was Chris' home in Stockport and he was cooking. Now considering Chris has been on Masterchef TWICE we all knew this was going to be something a bit special. And I am pleased to report he did not disappoint! I will skip over what happened that night (as I can't remember most of it hehe) but the next day we all arrived at Chris and Claire's studio a little worse for wear, that's all I will say!

We had two models for a few hours, Lisa and her cousin Heidi, who had joined us the night before so we were really looking forward to working with them and exploring the old factory building.

Now I wanted to do something a little different for this blog post and show you some completely unedited images. No re-touching, enhancing or cropping. This is exactly how I shot each and every image.

Donna and Allan are getting married!

Donna and Allan are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet! And I was over the moon when they booked me to shoot their summer Langley Castle wedding.....and then announced they were expecting their first baby! Lots to look forward too! But first the pre wedding shoot and Donna suggested Blyth beach which has undergone a huge transformation over the last few years. It's a great location with some colourful beach huts which make interesting backdrops.

A competition winner...Karen and James

Karen was the lucky winner of a competition in association Brides up North and asked if she could do the shoot in her wedding dress.....well of course! And hubby James came along as a very handsome prop!

For this shoot we travelled to Danby Castle. I suggested this venue as it's a really unique and quirky venue and also very private. I can thoroughly recommend this venue for weddings!

Aiste and Mark's Pre Wedding Shoot

This summer we had the most unpredictable weather and our first attempt to get to the beach was spoiled by the wet weather but our second attempt was so much better! We headed to Tynemouth and it was lovely to spend some time with Aiste and Mark and hear a little more about their Eshott Hall wedding. I was so excited to hear about all the Lithuanian traditions but more about that in another blog post!

Jane and Paul.....married!

Wow what amazing day! From the start you knew this was going to be a fantastic day...Paul turned up in a hip blue suit and pink shirt and another clue was the bright and cheerful order of service. Not even heavy rain could dampen this high spirits on this wedding day and when Jane arrived in her camper van and a beautiful Cymbaline lace gown it was game on! After a beautiful church service the rain decided it had done it's worst and left us with sunshine as we travelled to Hutton Rudby Village Hall. The hall was transformed with an indoor marquee and the decorations were amazing! Jane and Paul had chosen a bright and vibrant colour theme that captured the essence of their honeymoon to California. A surfboard for a table plan was a brilliant idea! As the day turned to night and the first dance got underway, the love between Jane and Paul was clear to see. Magical! x

Jo and James at Saltwell Park

I used to work with Jo in my previous life and I was over the moon when she asked me to photograph her wedding to the lovely James! Jo is so full of life and a giggle to be around as her laugh is infectious and when I arrived at her house this morning she was almost hyperventilating with excitement! The weather was simply perfect and Jo looked amazing in her white dress trimmed in black lace.

After a ceremony at Newcastle Civic Centre we spent the rest of the day in the beautiful surroundings of Saltwell Park and Saltwell Towers where everyone enjoyed the sunshine.

It was a beautiful day and congratulations to you both!

Anita and Charles

I get to go to some pretty cool places for my pre wedding shoots....and this time was no exception. This is a particularly special place and Belsay Hall has it all for me. From the stunning Jacobean mansion, which is extremely atmospheric, you can walk through the pretty quarry gardens to the Castle. If you've never been it's well worth a visit and every other year they play host to a major exhibition and I am looking forward to this years treat! Kids love it too...see their faces while exploring the spooky cellars!

Anita and Charles are one of those couple who live life to the full and are so much fun to be around...their wedding day was testament to that and I will bring you the full low down on their Matfen Hall extravaganza very soon!

It's pre wedding shoot time once again and this time was a local landmark I'd only ever seen from the A19...Penshaw Monument! For years I wondered what on earth it was and now I was going to find out! Debra and Neil were fantastic and so loved up....Debra and I squealed a little when we found an amazing poppy field on the other side of the monument...PERFECT!

Rachel and David's teeny wedding at Jesmond Dene House

This wedding was a little different from anything I'd ever shot before. For a start the Bride and Groom got ready together and then there was the guest list....or lack of it! Rachel and David had decided to have an extremely intimate ceremony with just their parents. It was incredibly moving and very relaxed! After the ceremony everyone sat in the sunshine enjoying champagne and canapes and just generally taking in the fantastic surroundings and hospitality of Jesmond Dene House. The newlyweds are planning a big party in Tynemouth in August where their friends and family will celebrate big style!

By the time the big day comes along we've already spent some time together learning about each other, building up a rapport which is vital to a fantastic experience on the day. You get the opportunity to practice being photographed and finding out that it's actually a lot of fun!

Dawn and Mark chose Bolam Lake for their pre wedding shoot and this location is a special place for me. My parents used to take me and my brother there as children and I have such great memories.

I little a while ago I met up with Brides up North blogger Julia Braime for a pretty special photoshoot. We had rustled up a few of the North East top wedding suppliers as we wanted the best of the best so we had Lisa Jones on hair duties and Paula Pace from Perfection Nail and Beauty creating the fantastic make up. We were also over the moon to have a special delivery from Claire at Wedding Flowers for You. Last but not least was the star of the show (apart from the awesome Julia of course!).....The Gowns. All supplied by couture dress designer Vikki at House of Mooski. All the dresses are one of a kind and made to measure and the attention to detail is amazing...Vikki is a talented lady!

I also want to give a huge shout out to my friend and fellow photographer Kat Timmins for assisting, shooting, light holding and driving!

This week I was so excited to find out I'd been shortlisted for the finals of the prestigious Wedding Industry Awards!!

I was nominated by a 2010 Bride (Thanks Kim!) and what makes these awards a little bit special is only your real customers who can vote. So to be shortlisted is a honour and I would like to thank each and everyone of my customers who voted for me. I want to hug you all!!!

Quite a few of my wedding industry friends were also shortlisted and I want to wish them all the best of luck too.

At the end of November the judges will announce the regional winners and they all go through to the National Finals on 18th January in London.

So keep your fingers and toes crossed for me and if I do win the regional award then I am sure you'll here a squeal loud enough to break glass from where ever you are!

Lyndsey and Graham and Wynyard Hall

And then it was back to a favourite location of mine, Wynyard Hall for the wedding of Lyndsey and Graham! I would describe this wedding as super stylish...from the Grooms sharp suit to the blue and white colour scheme and the stunning wedding gown (another non strapless dress...a definite trend!). Lyndsey carried the blue theme to her shoes and very pretty and floaty Bridesmaids dresses. I absolutely loved the personalised order of service which included a cartoon caricature of all the wedding party and this was a complete surprise to them all....it was great to watch their reaction as they took their seats and began reading. Fantastic!

Lyndsey said..."We have just returned from honeymoon, although we did manage to have a sneaky peak at the photos when we were away. We love them!! So pleased with them and you captured our day perfectly. Thanks so much for all of your hard work and kind words throughout the whole day. We have had so many positive comments about you and Neil and your work, so we really cannot thank you enough."

Sam and Graham at Dissington Hall

I always look forward to returning to Dissington Hall as it's a beautiful place with loads of photo possibilities and great staff! Sam and Graham chose a funky purple theme and it looked really eye catching and once again Claire Young from Wedding Flowers for You created beautiful bouquets and centrepieces. Sam looked stunning in her wedding gown and the day went without a hitch. I even had a little assistant in the form of 8 year old Megan...she also read a poem during the ceremony, made a speech and was planning to sing at the evening party!!! What a girl!

Some lovely words from the bride...."Fantastic photos as always Karen, I can't wait to see the rest! Thank you so much for capturing our special day, everyone said how wonderful you were (which we of course already knew!)"

Sarah and Richard at Woodhill Hall

Sarah and Richard are now Mr and Mrs Jennings after a beautiful day at Woodhill Hall. The venue is perfect for a private, intimate wedding and even the rain stayed away until after the photos were finished! Thank you Mr Rain! Sarah is Canadian and lots of guests made the long journey to the UK for this wedding which made it extra special and the atmosphere was great. I see lots of weddings and sometimes I see things I've never seen before...at this wedding we had a wedding dress with pockets (such a good idea!)....a crepe station in the evening (delicious, I was the first to try it lol) and a fingerprint guest tree! I think you'll agree that Sarah looked stunning and let me tell you, her smile and enthusiasm is infectious and Richard was, of course, a very handsome groom!

Sharon and David at Wynyard Hall

Wynyard Hall is a very popular wedding venue and it's very easy to see why! It's majestic and impressive and offers a ton of photo opportunities inside and out. Sharon and David said 'I do' in the stunning chapel and then entertained their guests in the Ballroom and later in the Conservatory.

Just before Sharon floated down the aisle, David leaned over to me and said "Oh by the way I've got Sharon a surprise present....a car" WOW! She was stunned later in the day when he presented it to her! I loved the look on her face!

On seeing her preview Sharon said "Karen thank you so much! These are absolutely amazing! Can't wait to see more! You and Neil worked so hard yesterday and we really appreciate it, we couldn't have done it without you! xx"

This made it the perfect backdrop for Carol and Greg's small intimate wedding back in April. Many of the guests had travelled from Greg's home in Germany and it was truly a happy and special day.

My Right Hand Man..in business and in life.

Ever since I picked up my first DSLR camera there has been someone at my side encouraging me. My husband Neil. Now many of you have met Neil and someone you may have laughed at this bald spot (hehe) but it’s important that his role in my journey is properly recognised and he is given the credit he so rightly deserves.

Together we’ve come a long way since we married in 2007 and our lives are very different – I would never have imagined I would be self employed working as a wedding photographer! We had a fantastic wedding at Horton Grange. It was everything I’d dreamed of since I was a little girl and having all our friends and family around us was incredibly special and the feeling of being a bride has stayed with me ever since.

About a year ago Neil decided that he would like to try his hand a photography too. I think the temptation of all this yummy camera kit lying around the house became too much for him and he gave in! In true Neil style (quietly and calmly) he picked up a camera, and a book and with the help of the internet, just taught himself what he needed to know. It was fantastic having someone who now shared my passion and we could now talk about photography, cameras and lenses until the cow came home. His photography was very good and he was quickly shooting to a very high standard!

Last August, an opportunity arose for Neil to assist me at a wedding. I have to admit I was not very keen at first. I was working really well with Sarah, my current non shooting assistant and I didn’t want Neil to look or feel like anything other than my equal but out of necessity we shot our first wedding together and it was great! At that wedding Neil was purely an assistant, carrying my kit and taking it all in. I think he realised the hard work that goes into shooting a wedding but also how much fun they are. And from then on Neil has been at my side at all weddings.

As well as shooting Neil has found a talent for photoshop and is a demon at removing unwanted distractions from images…even me!

So fast forward to today and now Neil is not only my right hand man but a very good 2nd shooter creating fantastic shots in his own right, and in his own way. We work really well as a team and understand what's required on a wedding day to get the best shots and play our part to make the day so special for our clients. But he is far more involved in the business that that... spending hours and hours editing weddings during busy periods, making DVDs, backing up all the work, visiting the Bank and Post Office and he's even designed wedding albums. The business might be called 'Karen McGowran Photography' but Neil is a huge part of that and I really couldn't do what I do without his help. This post is to give Neil some public recognition but also to say Thank you for everything he's ever done to get to where we are today and long may it continue!

Here is a selection of some of Neil's wedding images. He works very quietly alongside me meaning his images are truly candid and documentary which clients always love.

Emma and Lee at Lumley Castle

Emma and Lee were childhood sweethearts who met at school...they are so perfect for each other and just a joy to work with. Rain threatened all day but we just worked with the moody cloud and kept our fingers crossed (it worked!). As this was the only wedding at Lumley Castle we had full run of the place which was great! The newlyweds are saving their Italian honeymoon for the summer but did manage to sneak off to The Feversham Arms for few days for some well earned R&R.

Victoria and Kris at As You Like It

Victoria and Kris were married amidst a sea of beautiful stylish vintage-esque details. Not only that but they had fantastic weather and the most amazing friends and family who were hell-bent on enjoying the day and their super-chic surroundings! As You Like It has a unique way of creating a very relaxed atmosphere and it really suited Victoria and Kris down to the ground. When they serve Brown Ale as a toast you know this is one wedding without any formality and I think it was appreciated by lots of the guys! Victoria looked stunning in her lace gown, with a criss-crossed back design and just the right amount of sparkle and I fell in love with her bouquet and shoes! Everything just looked perfect!

Cathy and Chris at Slaley Hall

We drove to Slaley Hall in heavy rain but I put my faith in the BBC and they were right, by 11am it was dry and promising to be a fantastic day for the marriage of Cathy and Chris. Cathy chose a stunning Maggie Sottero dress with beautiful detail over one shoulder and she looked so stylish and classy. She walked down the aisle to her two favourite boys, Chris and their baby son Tommy and her smile said it all!

It was beautiful weather and guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the terrace while I stole the married couple away for some romantic portraits in the Japanese garden.

I was honoured to be part of their day and I hope you enjoy this preview of some on my favourite images.

A beautiful sunny day at Lumley Castle!

Earlier this month it was Katrina's turn to float down the aisle as a bride and what a fantastic day...not only were guests in a fabulous location, Lumley castle with lovely weather but they were also entertained by Paul Lytton, my photobooth and fireworks! So there was never a dull moment and it was obvious that everyone was having the time of their lives!

Katrina look stunning in her white gown and her boys Chris, Jake and baby Luke also looked so handsome....Jake and Luke were so well behaved all day and Jake even makes a few appearances in the photobooth. I know Katrina is going to love them!

Chris was fighting back the tears as Katrina arrived and it made for a very emotionally charged ceremony and with personal vows and Jake as a perfect ring bearer it was just so lovely.

Charlie and Martyn ~ Headlam Hall

Pink, Pink, Pink! That's how I would describe this wedding. The colour scheme was so vibrant and eye catching and everyone loved it!

We were all so happy that the rain held off as Headlam Hall has the most beautiful grounds and I really wanted to explore. I loved how Charlie was not to precious over her dress and just enjoyed wearing it....she was so happy being a bride!

Charlie and Martyn used images of their daughter, Amelie as table numbers and I thought it was a unique and personal way of numbering the tables. Also the best man Michael made a great speech and had everyone belly laughing.

Charlie and Martyn, it was an absolute pleasure to be part of your day today and I love your style!

Deborah and Kevin ~ Dissington Hall

Spring is in the air and recently I made a very welcome return to one of my favourite wedding venues, Dissington Hall, for the wedding of Deborah and Kevin. When you get a great venue, fantastic weather, super friendly family and friends and a couple who let you take as many photos as you like you just can't fail but have amazing day!

Deborah was one of the most relaxed brides I've ever photographed and just so excited to become Mrs Nolan...Kev was a little nervous but that all melted away as soon as Deborah joined him and they became man and wife. From then on it was party on with everyone enjoying Dissington Hall and the fine weather. I loved the blue and white colour scheme with dollar shells, very fresh and eye catching....all Deborah's own design and it looked fab!

Kelly and Ian, Rushpool Hall

What a fantastic wedding yesterday! Kelly and Ian made some very emotional vows in front of their close friends and family to bacome husband and wife at Rushpool Hall. Kelly's Grandfather who is not in good health walked her down the aisle and it was such a touching moment. Kelly looked simply stunning in her Ian Stuart designer gown and Ian also look very dapper but was completely outshone by his son, Jack, aged 6, who was the cutest and most well behaved little boy I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

The weather was perfect too and we managed to get lots of photos outside before the reception. We had fun with some props too...loads of fun!

Kim Groves from Fine and Funky Events helped Kelly with some styling touches and provided a photocorner for the evening party.

Just before we left we grabbed Kelly and Ian for some night shots and they ended up being some of my favourite of the day.

Congratulations to you both, you were fantastic to work with and we really enjoyed your wedding.

Laura and Barry, The Sage Gateshead

Laura and Barry chose the stunning Sage building to become Mr and Mrs and it was an awesome day! The sun shone, the bride look amazing, the flowergirls were cute and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when Barry said his vows. I have never cried so much! They probably had to mop the floor after the ceremony as everyone was sobbing!

Zoe and John, Hotel Hall Trees Yarm

I feel like I've known Zoe and John for ages, since they booked me 18 months ago. I've met up with them many times and it really felt that I was going to a friends wedding. Both Neil and I were very excited. Despite it being Feburary the weather played ball (well until it didn't matter anyway!) and we were able to get outside for some photos. Zoe look absolutely stunning and just defined the term 'glowing bride', there were audible gasps as she walked into her ceremony.

The staff at Hotel Tall Trees commented that there was a really good buzz about the place

Zoe also enlisted the help of Kim from Fine and Funky events to help her style and set up the details from the day and Natalie from Purple Peacock Bespoke Stationery made the menus and beautiful escort cards. All the litle details really made a difference and the guests gave them lots of praise!

As the day turned to evening it was time to set up the vintage styled photobooth (photos to follow) and it was a massive hit! After Zoe and John danced to 'You Got a Friend in Me' from Toy Story the party was well and truly in full swing.

I just want to thank Zoe and John for being such amazing clients and friends and it was a pleasure to be part of your day - even if you did make me cry at various points of the day!

Claire and Aidan at Redworth Hall

And so we move into 2011 and what a year I’ve got lined up! Some amazing couples have chosen me to photograph their special day and that makes me feel so honoured and excited. I’ve got some new venues this year too like Wynyard Hall, Bamburgh Castle and Woodhill Hall. I love shooting weddings at new venues but saying that, each wedding is pretty unique so even though I may have shot at that venue before it always feels new to me.

First up in 2011 was Claire and Aidan at Redworth Hall. I loved working with Claire and Aidan as they were really relaxed and that shone though on the wedding day. Both are town planners and loved the architecture at Redworth Hall and details like this are important to me as it helps me create images that I know they will love. At the pre wedding meeting we walked around the venue and found some lovely old books and I knew they would make an interesting background for showing off Aidan’s beloved antique pocket watch. This is why a venue visit, ideally with my clients, is an absolute critical part of the service I offer. It really helps to form a picture of the likes and dislikes of my Bride and Groom and I can also make some suggestions for locations that they might not have thought of.

The other stars of the day were the car Betsy, a 1938 Austin Ten, Alfie the dog and the Candy Buffet, both featured in lots of photographs of course!

Claire and Aidan kept everyone in a festive mood just a little longer with a Christmas themed wedding (with a sprinkling of Disney) and with Redworth Hall’s giant Christmas tree still looking pretty in the window and the room adorned with candles and snowflakes, it seemed a perfect choice. I loved the personalised baubles placed in each glass with the place cards attached. Great idea!

Claire was also ready with the one item no self respecting winter bride should be without…wellies! In her colour theme naturally! She pulled them on without any hesitation and off we trotted across the muddle lawn for some fun Bride and Groom portraits.

Another highlight of the day was the fantastic and very talented Paul Lytton who wowed guests at their table with his tricks and his own style of humour. I’ve photographed Paul lots of times at weddings now and I still love the reaction he gets from the guests, I’ve shot some priceless expressions! Paul also performed a trick on Neil which had us baffled all the way home! How does he do it??

Back to the Candy buffet, which was little special as it had been created by scratch by Claire’s Dad and the whole family were incredibly proud of it. It looked fabulous - with fairy lights no less - and provided a talking point for all the guests.

A Ceildh provided lots of fun in the evening and after ‘procuring’ some cupcakes for Neil and I, we were as saying goodbye and heading off up the A19 happy to have been part of such a lovely day.

Alex and Ed at The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art

Late in 2010, Alex contacted me about shooting her wedding. She had heard about me through the amazing and stylish blog Love My Dress and was really excited to tell me about her day. At our next meeting I met Ed and I could just see straight away how perfect they were for each other. They both have such enthusiasm for life and hold friends and family very close to their heart and their wedding plans reflected this perfectly.

It was a blend of styles as Alex chose a beautiful vintage style Jenny Packham gown and Rachel Simpson shoes to contrast with the ultra modern building of The Baltic. It worked perfectly...set off by miles of handmade paper chains and mini Christmas trees of course!

There were two stand out moments of the day for me, which placed this wedding as one of the best weddings I've ever shot. The first was during the service. I was carefully watching and shooting Alex as she enthusiastically joined in with the singing. Every now and then she would look up and beam widely as someone. I moved to the front of the church to find that it was her three sisters who had matching wide smiles and I've never seen a family look more happy for each other! The second moment was later on that evening, Alex and Ed had organised a good old fashioned sing-song around the piano. After getting some close-ups I took a step back and watched from the balcony. It was just so lovely to see all Alex and Ed's friends and family join in and I could definately feel the love in the room! To me this is what a wedding is all about, love, family and friends.

After the wedding I received a lovely email from Alex ...

I am back at work now and suffering from major back to school blues. I am in mourning for the wedding! I can't believe how much we loved the whole day. The one thing that's keeping me going is being able to keep going back on your website and having a look through the photos again to relive it all! So many people have said to me that they're the best wedding photos they've ever seen - how unusual they are and what a brilliant photographer you are. I work in a TV and film company and yesterday some of the senior members of the film departmnet were saying the photos make it look like we had a cinematic art director setting them up, creating lighting etc. You are just so talented - so glad we found you!

Winter weddings can sometimes be very tricky when you don't have any natural light to play with so I was really pleased!

I would like to thank Alex and Ed for choosing me to be part of their special day. It was an honour and I throughly enjoyed myself.

A New Year and a New Look!

For a while now I've been wanting to re-brand to keep things new and fresh. My good friend Julie Tinton introduced me to a great designer and together we created my new logo. I've kept it modern and fresh but with a nod to the vintage and I know you Brides are loving that style!

So this is the new me!

Wynyard Hall Wedding Photographer

This year, one particular venue seems very popular. The magnificent Wynyard Hall which can be found on the impressive Wynyard estate. A couple of months ago I took the opportunity to meet a few couple at the venue and I had a good look around. It's a beautiful, opulent venue set in magificent grounds with imrepessive lake and inside certainly impresses too. On entering the hall you arrive at the magificent Statue Gallery, with it's 60 foot high ceiling. The rooms are elegant and ornate and it offers many choices for Brides and Groom who choose to get married there. It even boasts its own Chapel!

My first wedding at Wynyard Hall is May (followed by many more!) and I am very much looking forward to spending time at this beautiful venue.

Jenny and Tom at Matfen Hall

The Ice Age continues!

Neil and I were worried about getting up to Matfen so we took a little trip the day before Jenny and Tom's wedding. We needn't have worried as the roads were clear and Matfen Hall looked simply stunning in a blanket of snow against the blue sky!

24 hours later we were back again and very much looking forward to the day. I was chatting to the staff and they casually mentioned that the previous bride and groom had battled through knee deep snow to get to the little bridge....well we certainly weren't going to be outdone and I knew Jenny had her wellies!

As Jenny was getting ready with her Bridesmaids and Mum, I asked her what she thought about taking a 'stroll' in the snow and I was delighted to find out that she was well and truly up for it!

Matfen Hall is a fantastic venue with the most spectacular entrance in the North East (in my opinion) and Jenny floated down the aisle like a true princess. And after some quick family shots we braved the white stuff for some unique photos. When we returned the staff had hot chocolates ready for us...lovely touch and much needed!

Tom and Jenny are a match made in heaven and a lovely couple to work with. I would like to wish you every success in the future and I cant wait to deliver your album!

Carly and Shaun and a snowstorm!

November was a strange month, started with lovely autumnal sunshine ending in the new ice age! We were all nervously biting our nails as the snow started falling heavy the day before Carly and Shaun's wedding. I remembered some of Carly's last words at our pre wedding meeting "I'd just like a dusting of snow" she said. Well her dream was about to come true...100 fold!

We made it to Carly's house, through very deep snow although we had to park at the bottom the street, only to find out the vintage cars had been cancelled however they were not going to let the bride down and were sending the 4x4s. Carly took it all in her stride and was more than happy with the change of plan, nothing was going to spoil this special day and she just kept smiling and enjoying the morning with her girls.

Everyone made it to the church (in wellies!) and we waited for the bride to arrive...and through the snowstorm we saw the beautiful vintage cars pull up. Yes! the fantastic AB Wedding Cars pulled out all the stops and despite some of the worst weather in decades they got the bride to the church on time and in style. Thanks guys!

After the beautiful service Carly had a lovely surpise, she was serenaded by the fantastic guitarist from the Anna Reay Band . It was a fantastic moment and it brought Carly to tears.

We then made our way (through a snow storm naturally) to Lumley Castle . This was my first visit to this venue and it's a very dark, gothic venue and extremely atmospheric. The Baron's Hall look stunning and there is just something gorgeous about a winter wedding reception all lit by candles. Anna Reay sang through the wedding breakfast and she has one stunning voice!

After the reception we sneaked off for some dramatic Bride and Groom portraits using the features around the castle. Winter weddings do come with their challenges and you do have to change your techniques but I do love them!

Carly and Shaun went off on Safari on honeymoon and we were al envious that they were escaping some awful weather here in the UK!

Boudoir photography....a little secret

It's a little know fact but I also do boudoir photography. Normally it's brides who want a totally unique and personal gift for their Husbands to be. Together we create sensual, beautiful and glamorous images that really show you off to your best potential (while ignoring all the wobbly bits!). The end result is an album that blow his socks off!

Laura and Clint and a lovely sunny day!

Well November has certainly been a very strange month for weather! You would be forgiven for thinking Laura and Clint got married in summer but this was actually a winter wedding. At the end of the month we were all knee deep in snow!

This wedding took me back to The Ramside Hall which I was delighted about and this time the reception was held in the fountain room which was beautifully decorated. Laura chose a Ivory and Brown theme set off perfectly by her orange Calla Lily bouquet - seal of approval from the photographer as that's what I had for my wedding!

Laura's little flowergirl, Caitlyn, threatened to steal the show during the ceremony and played peek-a-boo with me under the table where Laura and Clint were signing the register. So cute!

Laura and Ken marry at Gisborough Hall

This was my first visit to Gisborough Hall and as with all weddings in November we were all wondering what the weather would be like! I'd met Laura and Ken at their venue the week before so I'd already formulated a wet weather plan so I was prepared for anything. Gisborough Hall offers lots of options for photos no matter what the weather. But what we got was a very bright but cold winters day...exactly what Laura had wished for!

Ken is Chinese and it was lovely to see both families from different cultures coming together to celerate their marriage. Ken's family were all very friendly and I expeienced my first Tea Ceremony which was a lovely touch. Laura had even learned a few Chinese words however after lots of giggling from Ken's family I wasn't sure her pronunciation was entirely correct!

Laura and Ken chose a Disnesy theme, with a fairytale castle cake and all the tables were named after the Disney Princesses....which was exactly how I would have described Laura's look when she got out of her wedding car. She looked breathtaking in her white Hollywood dreams gown set off by a fur shrug.

There were so many smiles, tears of joy, cuddles and kisses and it was clear that everyone was having a fantastic time!

The wedding was expertly filmed by the talented Tony at Total Memories. We've worked with Tony numerous times and he always creates some amazing wedding videos and is a great guy too.

Sarah and Steve and the beautiful Alnwick Treehouse

When Sarah and Steve first contacted me last year I was over the moon to be shooting a wedding at Alnwick Treehouse as it's a truly magical and unique venue. When they told me they was getting married after dark at Alnwick Treehouse I quickly realised this was going to be a challenge! I put in a call to my fantastic friend Julie Tinton, who agreed to come along for moral support and help me with the lighting kit. Neither Sarah or Steve are native to this part of the work so there was lots of travelling from both sides of the family and to bring them to such a fantastic venue was a great idea. As the sun started to set, Steve arrived with Best Man, Mark and we set to work using what little available light there was before swapping to the softbox and also the video light. By the time Sarah floated up the fairy-lit walkway it was pitch black. Hold on I thought? I was sure Sarah has told me she was wearing a red dress? Apparently the there was a 'wardrobe malfuntion' with the red dress and she has bought another! Regardless, she looked fantastic and beaming with happiness next to her Dad and Bridesmaids. Everyone was over the moon with the weather, dry and fairly warm for November....so far so good!

The service was really lovely and Sarah really fought back the tears as she said her vows and they exchanged rings. In fact looking around there were quite a few people with tears in their eyes!

As it was still dry we managed to use the outside space for group shots and the Bride and Groom portaits, although it was very dark we still managed to create some beautiful portaits.

After the speeches it was time for us to leave however the wedding party enjoyed a delicious meal then danced until the small hours. Sarah and Steve are so well suited that I just know they will have a long and happy marriage and I amd looking forward to seeing them soon to deliver their album.

Zoe and John...almost married!

Carolyn and Peter, married!

Last month I had the honour of photographing Carolyn and Peter’s beautiful autumnal wedding. They chose the Lord Mayors Official Residence, Mansion House, in Jesmond to host their nuptials and I really loved the style of the place. It’s quite vintagy and has a lovely regal feel to the place. It’s an exclusive venue so you have the run of the place including all the bedrooms and one of the most amazing old fashioned bathrooms I’ve ever seem …complete with antique exercise bike!

Caroline looked amazing in her white gown and full length lace jacket but her cute little flowergirl, Eve, threatened to steal her limelight…especially in her fairy wings! She led Carolyn and her father down the staircase to Peter who was waiting for her to become his wife. Throughout the ceremony Carolyn and Peter would look adoringly at each other and it was plain to see the depth of love between them.

We had perfect weather so we were able to take all the photos outside and use the beautiful gardens and house as the backdrop. After some relaxing mingling time the gong sounded (loved the gong!) calling everyone to the reception room for the wedding breakfast. Once again I was able to sample the delights of the main course and this time it was lamb with the most delicious spring onion mash and beetroot….yummy!

One of the highlights of the day came during the speeches. The Best Man, Barry set up a projector and screen and we were all excited to see what was going to happen. Barry had created a hilarious photo slideshow all about Peter and their friendship and this was followed by the main event….a spoof Baywatch video filmed on Tynemouth Beach starring the Groom complete with ironing board as his surf board!! It brought the house down is one of the funniest things I have ever seen!! There were slides splitting all over the room…including Carolyn’s!

We had time for a few evening portraits before the wedding singer introduced the new Mr and Mrs Ward to the dancefloor for their first dance as husband and wife.

Carolyn and Peter enjoyed a luxury honeymoon in Hawaii…I was incredibly jealous of the photos Peter was posting to Facebook!

A fun filled Gretna Green Wedding!

Traditionally, in Scotland, a man & woman over the age of 16 could be married by declaring themselves husband & wife in front of witnesses. In England, you needed to be 18….consequently eloping young couples fled to Scotland for their marriages. The ceremonies were often carried out over the anvil with the ''Blacksmiths Priest'' officiating. Gretna Green was the first changing post across the Scottish Border for the stagecoaches on the main London so Edinburgh route & so began its long association with the romance of the runaways. So with all that romance buzzing around in my head I was very excited to shoot my first wedding there!

Nicola and Leighton chose Anvil Hall for their ceremony and Smiths Hotel for their reception. Both venues are some of the nicest places to get married in Gretna Green and as it was October it felt a lot quieter than it would have been in the summer. We were all biting our nails over the weather but it turned out to be a lovely day and we were able to take plenty of photos outside….even one of the M74 motorway sign (not my idea…ask the Bride!!!).

The day started with Nicola all the girls getting ready in a large beautiful suite and you could literally feel the excitement in the room! Meanwhile, Leighton was with his Best Man and Ushers elsewhere in the hotel and was feeling nervous but really looking forward to the day. And before we knew it Nicola was boarding her Camper Van and was off to get married over the anvil!

After the obligatory photos with the piper, in the Kissing Gate and Gretna Green sign we returned to Smith Hotel for an amazing reception. The room looked absolutely gorgeous with the gold butterfly theme beautiful fishbowl centrepieces. It was unfortunate that a couple of guests couldn’t attend the wedding as they were called to deal with the Nuclear Submarine that run aground….but all was not lost, as my husband and I were able to have their meals! So I can personally vouch for the food, it was incredible! Best beef I’ve EVER had.

After the reception, the sun had faded so it was time to bring out the video light and play around with the contemporary setting of the hotel. Nicola and Leighton were happy to pose for more photos then they showed me their Bridal Suite….it was AMAZING! With double balcony, massive living room area, with X Box, mood lighting, huge bathroom with the biggest Jacuzzi bath I’ve ever seen and to top it all off, a rotating circular bed. I kid you not! The Bride and Groom performed regular guided tours of the suite throughout the night!

Along with their baby Niall, Nicola and Leighton had a fantastic day and to top it all off Nicola’s Dad has booked her a Cherish the Dress shoot which we are going to do in the spring. I can’t wait!

Nicola and Leighton are honeymooning as a family at home. Leighton is in the Navy so time together is precious so I hope you are having a wonderful romantic time together.

My albums..eventually some images!

I have designed and delivered so many beautiful albums this year and almost always forget to take some photo to share with you. So when Natalie and Ashley's album arrived a little while ago I was determined to put that right!

I have chosen to use Bellissimo Albums for a number of reasons, firstly they are superb quality and very impressive. They are weighty and arrive in a beautiful presentation box. When you take your album out to show family and friends they wont fail to be impressed! The albums are 'digital story book albums' which just means that the images are printed directly onto high quality photographic card and the images are designed to tell the story of your day. I personally design the content and look of each album using multi-image layouts and striking double page presentations creating a truly story for you.

The main albums come in three sizes, 12x8, 14x10 and 16x12 inches and the number of pages in your album really depends on your budget. My most popular size is 14x10inches with 25 double page spreads as it really showcases a wedding perfectly.

I also offer various parents albums. The parents album pictured below is a 7x5inch coffee table book.

There is a definate 'trend' towards photographers attending your wedding and providing edited images on a disc. For the budget minded it's a real alternative to consider (and something I still offer) but my worry is in 10-15 years are you even going to be able to find something that can read CDs/DVDs...remember the fate of the old VHS system? eeek!

I wish my parents had a wedding album I just know it would be one of the family's most treasured possesions.

Bridesdress Revisted!

Lynsey and Mark were married earlier this summer but they wanted some more relaxed portraits of themselves and of course Lynsey was yearning to wear her wedding dress once again. We chose the beach as it was very different to their wedding location and Lynsey changed her look by wearing her hair long and loose, perfect for some informal photos!

We did get some strange looks from people who were milling about enjoying the afternoon sunshine but we just didn't care and headed for a quiet part of the beach when we could use the stunning surroundings of St Mary's Lighthouse to have some fun.

Natalie and Ashley at Slaley Hall

Ashley and Natalie chose the beautiful surrounding of Slaley Hall for their very special day and it's not difficult to see why. The hotel is very comfortable with beautiful features and decor and great for indoor and outdoor photos...which makes your photographer very happy by the way!

In the morning I was greeted by lots of excited girls and this is the moment I always know we are going to have a good day! The sun was shining and Natalie looked absolutely stunning next to her bridesmaids in midnight blue. Natalie is from Scotland and her heritage was honoured by kilts (of course!) and the odd tartan detail here and there.

Following a emotional ceremony, guest spilled out on to the large terrace for reception drinks and photos and then I was able to steal the newlyweds away for some quality time alone. At the end of the photos it decided to rain a little! Shock! But we had a large umbrella on hand and I am a sucker for photos with brollies!

Cherish the Dress!

Katie married the lovely Mr D'Arcy back in May and was so exicted to wear her gorgeous gown once again so we planned an early morning shoot at the magificent Bolam Lake...only to wake to find it raining. However we put all our trust in the BBC weather forecast and headed up there anyway. And seems we made a great decision as we found ourselves in the middle of autumnal wonderland with the most gorgeous light and it stayed dry!! Katie quickly slipped into the dress and my hubby helped with the kit and soon we were creating some kick-ass images and Katie was loving it! We went from the forest to the lakeside paths, detouring to an interesting log and onto the pier. So much fun!

Brides spend so much time on choosing the dress and it can sometimes feel like the biggest decision you'll make in your life and why should you only wear it once? A Cherish the Dress photoshoot is a lot more relaxed than your wedding day and we can really focus on you and your beautiful gown in an environment that maybe a little diffent from your wedding day!

I do have a soft spot for Eslington Villa probably as it's an exclusive wedding venue but also because it lends itself to a very intimate and relaxed wedding. The garden is lovely too and a safe haven for children to play. So I was over the moon that Michaela and Craig chose me to photograph their special day!

So the day started at Michaela's house where I met Ethan, who was lovely and let me borrow Woody for this special shot!

I was really blown away with Michaela's finished look! She looked radiant and every inch a modern bride all complimented with some sparkle and her pretty bouquet was perfect.

Michaela's Mum also looked amazing!

And so did Katherine the Bridesmaid!!

The Ceremony was held at St Mark's in Low Fell where I met the a very friendly vicar who conducted a lovely service...but first the Groom!

Michaela and Craig were very keen to get everyone to Eslington Villa where the welcome drinks were waiting so they quickly got in their car off they went, guests (and photographer!) following close behind.

A few group shots later and we were into some serious mingling time in the gorgeous afternoon sun before guests were ushered to their seats for speeches and a very delicious meal.

And here is Ethan looking very dapper!

And the Best Man, Brendan, looking very nervous getting in some last minute preparation.

Craig made a very emotional speech and tried very hard to maintain his composure.

Because the weather was so nice (and to help with the flow of the day) we left all the Bride and Groom portraits until after the meal. Good job Michaela didn't have an accident with the gravy!

So Mrs and Mrs Smith...come on down!

As the day turned into evening guests were entertain by the talents of swing singer Alexander Lomas. He definately come highly recommended!

A new service...Photo Corner!

Pick and prop....and pose!!!

This is a great was to get the party started and your guests will have a blast! I set up a mini studio in a corner of your room and tempt your guests with a huge range of props...maybe you like the look of the pink afro or maybe the massive glasses are your thing? You might want to write a message to the newlyweds on the heart chalkboard? It could be the inflatable guitars that float your boat....there is something for everyone and the old and young all like getting involved!

Photos are available online the following morning for guests to look at and order and the Bride and Groom received a photobook with all the images. What a fantastic reminder of how daft your guests are! The price of the Photo Corner and book is £150.00 when booked with all day coverage.

A pre wedding shoot with a difference!

When Natalie and Graeme told me they really wanted some images at the fun fair I was really excited! And despite a dreary grey day the colours and props really helped to bring some pop to the shoot. Natalie and Graeme will be using this images in a coffee table book for guests to sign on their wedding day in August....can't wait!

Natalie and Graeme at The Ramside Hall Hotel

As weddings go this one had it all...and I knew that from the moment I clapped eyes on Natalie's Jenny Packham wedding dress and Jimmy Choo shoes! Natalie and Greame settled on The Ramside Hall as the venue for their special day as it fit perfectly with their glamorous theme. The Ballroom with it's stunning chandeliers is peferect for a wedding reception.

The Ramside has a large farmhouse on site which is perfect for the girls getting ready in the morning and this is where I began the wedding coverage in the morning.

It was all lovely and calm and everyone was enjoying being pampered and talking about the day ahead. The girls decided it was time to get into their dresses and it was oooh and ahhs all round when Natalie decended the stairs looking every inch a bride.

I left the girls to some time alone and went off in search of Graeme and his groomsmen. They too looked dashing and quite relaxed!

All the guests were guided to their seats and the Bridemaids waited excitedly for the arrival of the bride.

Natalie looked flawless as she floated down the aisle to Graeme and there were quite a few tears of happiness around he room!

And now we have ourselves a super happy, loved up Mrs and Mrs Moralee! The weather stayed dry for a few group shots and some lovely portraits in the gardens.

A huge part of the day for Natalie was the styling of the reception room, it was key to the theme of the day and she really wanted to make an impression so as the guests were enjoying a drink (or two!) we sneaked off to see how it all looked. And it looked stunning!

Natalie is a very talented wedding stationery designer so standards were high and no one was disappointed with how the tables looked from the beautiful menu cards adorned with peacock feathers to the wish bracelet favours and the stunning floral centrepieces. Loved those flowers!!

The speeches were fantastic with the Best Man making use of a projector to embarass Greame with childhood photos and funny stories when they were growing up (and beyond!). It was really funny and also quite touching.

After the reception I found the girls playing Catwalk models (the champagne most definately taking effect here) so never to miss a trick I grabbed the bride and we got some great shots.

The sun started to set and it looked so pretty, perfect for some more portraits of the happy couple....along with some moustaches on sticks

A couple of weeks ago I shot Natalie and Ashley's wedding...full post to follow but here is a sneak preview.

All their images and album design where ready for viewing the moment they got back from their honeymoon and this is what they had to say...

Oh my word Karen!!!! The photos are absolutely gorgeous! Ashley and i have sat in Maldives and Dubai dreaming about how the pictures were going to look like but you have surpassed our dreams! You have captured everything absolutely perfectly and we cant thank you enough.

We have had so many comments from friends and family about the pictures you have posted on facebook and they have nothing but praise for your pictures - i can honestly say that your photography style is one of the best i have seen for wedding pictures and i will make sure to pass your information on to any new brides!

i have sent the link to some family and friends so you may find that they want to purchase some pictures with you directly.

i cant wait for the album and the CD! we love so many pictures and cant wait to see them in the flesh.

Ashely and i loved having both you and Sarah capture our day, you are both lovely down to earth ladies and it felt just like we had friends helping us photograph our special day. Thank you for making it so fun and easy to do.

Vicky and Ian's beautiful day

Both Vicky and Ian are lovely people and made a wonderful couple. They are so friendly and easy going and I just knew I was going to throughly enjoy their day. I wasn't wrong!

Yet again the sun was shining as I pulled up at Vicky's mum's house to be greeted by a beaming Vicky and her gorgeous bridesmaids. As Vicky was being preened her family looked though old photos and drank champagne and I slipped away upstairs to find all those lovely bits and pieces.

Two gorgeous bridesmaids....

They were very helpful too!

Vicky was a stunning bride, I am sure you will agree. Her lace ans bead Pronovias dress suited her perfectly and I was sure she was going to take Ian's breath away.

Talking of Ian, here he is! The Dashing Groom...

Not to forget the proud mini usher!

While we waited for the bride to arrive the Vicar took a moment of quite contemplation.

But not for too long because here she is...a bundle of excitement and nerves.

A magical moment....Vicky glides down the aisle to Ian who found it really hard to contain his emotions seeing his beautiful bride.

Woo hoo we now have ourselves a newly married couple...introducing Mr and Mrs Hudson!

Vicky and Ian chose to continue the day at the Gosforth Park Marriott and we made good use of the sunshine and surrounding gardens for the group shots and then I stole the couple away for some lovely portraits.

I will end this post with a highlight of the day...the Best Man's speech. And Gary was perfect for the job, his bubbly personality and meticulous planning ensured that he entertained everyone and pulled off the king of all speeches!

Vicky and Ian, you were a joy to work with and I am so pleased you love your album. I want to wish you a long and happy marriage and I hope you keep in touch.

Clare and Steve at the beautiful Jesmond Dene House

If you recognise Clare....it's because she's featured on this very blog once before...she was a bridesmaid for Lorna and Rab back in March! And this time she was the blushing bride and Lorna took on the bridesmaid role. Quite a few of their circle of friends chose 2010 to get married so it's been a busy year for everyone! So many dresses and pairs of shoes required!

This gorgeous day began at Clare's parents where the girls had fun getting ready. I love this part of the day, capturing all the brides stunning details.

Another special time is the moment a bride puts on her dress.

Clare had some very attentive bridesmaids

Leaving the girls to finish off getting ready we made a dash to St Andrew's church in the town centre. I was a happy bunny at this point as the sun was shining! I met the groom, Steve and some guests where also arriving and everyone was getting excited!

A handsome groom...

Talking about special moments...here's another...the arrival of a beautiful bride and her father!!

All brides dream of floating down the aisle and this was Clare's moment. All eyes where on her as she glided towards her groom in a beautiful gown looking every inch a princess. Just look at her smile!

The girls were itching for the confetti shot so that's exactly what we did! Then we made thr shop hop to the awesome Jesmond Dene House Hotel

Wedding are a time for celebrating not only the love between the newlyweds but also for also all our close relationships. Clare shared a lovely moment with her grandma and also had some fun with her friends!

Now for the moment Steve had been dreading! The Bride and Groom portraits are a time to escape the hustle and bustle of the wedding day and share some romantic time alone and even though Steve wasn't keen on having his picture taken he quite obviously was so loved up that he forgot how nervous he was!

The great hall at Jesmond Dene house is an impressive setting for a wedding reception (if a little dark!) and Clare and Steve's little decorative touches made it magical.

Speeches. I love 'em but they so make me cry. I quite often weep behind my camera and have to stop myself from sobbing out loud!

And for me this was the end of a beautiful day. Clare and Steve loved their photos....Steve left a message for me on Facebook saying "Hi Karen, just wanted to say thanks for all your efforts yesterday. The photos you've put up are cracking and the family really liked them as well". Happy Bride and Groom = one happy photographer!

So lots of love to Mr and Mrs Crossling and you know where I am for baby photos!

Kelly and Tom at Backworth Hall

What do you need for a good wedding? A great venue? Lovely weather? Your friends and family around you? A stunning head turning dress? Kelly and Tom had all the right ingredients and cooked up an amazing day for all to celebrate this fantastic occasion. Kelly looked super stylish and has shoes to die for! (I often get shoe envy haha!). Backworth Hall once again were great and helped Kelly and Tom plan down to the last details and the food was delicious. Here is their story in pictures...

Kim and Chris and a Vintage Extravaganza!

I always knew Kim and Chris' wedding was going to be unique. When I first met them they told me about their plans but I never thought for a minute that it would all come to fruition...but then again with Kim in the driving seat I should have know better! Firstly the venue provided the perfect backdrop to the summer garden party theme. Danby Castle (now featuring lots of my phoots!) is on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors, steeped in history and characture. The benefit of using this venue was the flexibility and freedon to create a wedding day that was as unique as it was exciting!

I really could write a post 6 foot long that would cover this wedding and all the details that Kim crammed into her beautiful wedding, so instead I am going to let Annabel from 'Love My Dress' tell the tale!
